Module 3

Materials Generator

https://classflow.com/

This google app allows teachers to easily make fun learning activities such as crosswords, fill in the blank, word search, and other learning formats. As a teacher, I can either print off the activity for my students or connect them to my file and monitor their progress online.
The website educationworld has a large number of templates that I can use as a teacher such as certificates and bathroom passes. “Certificates congratulate students for accomplishments, and the students can take them home and share them with parents and friends" (Roblyer, 2016, 148). When I customize things in my classroom such as rewards I can raise the working morale in my classroom.

Testing and Grading Tools

Orangeslice: Teacher Rubric is a google add on for google docs that help teachers create a grading rubric for the assignments. "The popularity of rubrics has grown to such an extent that several internet sites offer free rubric generators" (Roblyer, 2016, 156). Rubric Generators are very useful when deciding on which criteria to grade assignments with.

This is a website that gives teachers a template to create tests with true/false, multiple choice, fill in the blank, or multiple response questions. This will be very helpful in the future when I am writing test.

Graphics Tools

Lucidchart Diagrams is an add on to google docs that allow the user to create a selection of charts and diagrams. "The skills involved in reading, interpreting, and producing graphs and charts are useful both to students in school and adults in the workplace" (Roblyre, 2016, 157). By teaching my students how to use charts and diagrams I will be giving them skills that they will be able to use in their future career.

This app is GoldieBlox and the Movie Machine by GoldieBlox where students can make short 11 slide movies. I can use this in the class room to help reinforce ideas by having my students create movies about the content that they are learning.

Onelook Thesaurus is a google doc add on that gives the writer word suggestions that can be used to help give the writing more depth and word variety. This a very useful tool that both my students and I can use to learn new words and help us advance our writing.

https://www.google.com/earth/

Google Earth is a website set up to allow people to virtually roam the earth, learn facts about places, and take virtual tours of different lands. Instead of learning about places in a textbook my students will be able to search the whole world for them then learn about the place by taking a tour.

  1. I also wrote about the Google Add-On, Orange Slice. With this add-on, "the teacher follows a set of prompts, and the system creates a rubric that can be printed out or referred to online" (Roblyer, 2016, p. 156). When I read more information about the maker of Orange Slice, I found that he is working on another Google Add-On that will focus on vocabulary.

  2. I like that websites offer free rubrics. "The popularity of rubrics has grown to such an extent that several internet sites offer free rubric generators" (Roblyer, 2016, 156). Sometimes just getting started, teachers do not know where to start. Free rubrics help them to get started grading papers and the student to know what the teacher expects.

  3. I love how you related a materials generator to classroom management! I think it is very effective to use this for bathroom passes or certificates. Its amazing what "the printed page" can do it today's classroom. From flyers to brochures to certificates, it is important to have an effective method of creating these smoothly for your class (Roblyer, 2016, p.144).

  4. “Certificates congratulate students for accomplishments, and the students can take them home and share them with parents and friends" (Roblyer, 2016, 148). I absolutely love that you included this materials generator. It can definitely increase the effort that students give in the classroom if they get recognized for their hard work.
